As an ovarian cancer survivor, I will race in 50 triathlons in all 50 states by 50-years-old to raise $100,000 for ovarian cancer research. This campaign is self inspired, self orchestrated and 100% self funded. In addition, all in-kind donations are turned into cash donations by me in the same name of the person who donates. I race for women who have lost their battle, women undergoing treatment and women yet to be diagnosed.

An Early Morning Swim

What a beautiful morning for a swim.   I swim with Excel, a Masters Club, at a local pool and this morning the pool was closed for some reason.  Rather than miss a workout, the coach offered us a rare opportunity for a kayak-assisted open water swim in the ocean at sunrise.  It was such a picture perfect morning and with the recent heat wave, the water temperature was downright comfortable.  About 20 of us showed up, each pairing off with a buddy who roughly swam the same speed and a course was mapped out.  We did about a mile in relatively calm waters, exiting with smiles and kudos all around.  With few people on the beach at that hour, it felt like we owned the world.  What a great way to start the day!
